Bond Builder Privacy Policy

The short version

Bond Builder has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking and no in-app purchases. Your relationship data stays on your device and in your own iCloud account. We run no servers and cannot see it. Two optional features, Partner Connect and AI date ideas, are explained below.

What stays on your device and in your iCloud

The app stores your profile (names, anniversary, birthdays, love languages, favorites), special dates, moments, trips, goals, saved ideas, photos and your streak. If iCloud is turned on, this syncs privately across your own devices through your personal iCloud account. A small summary (streak, partner name, upcoming dates) is shown in widgets and on Apple Watch.

Partner Connect (optional)

When you connect with your partner using an invite code, the things you share with each other (names, avatar photos, gift hints, notes, shared ideas, comments, special dates and date photos) are stored in Apple's iCloud so both of your phones can see them. This shared data is encrypted with a key that only your two devices hold, so we cannot read it.

Love-tap messages, your streak count and when you were last active are stored without that extra encryption so they can appear in notifications. They are tied to your invite code, not to your name or Apple ID.

Disconnecting deletes everything you have shared, including date photos. Items your partner shared with you belong to them and are removed when they disconnect. If anything remains, email us and we will help remove it.

AI date ideas (optional)

AI ideas only work if you add your own OpenAI API key in Settings. The key is stored in your device's Keychain. When you ask for ideas, the app sends a request directly from your device to OpenAI containing your partner's first name and age, love language, hobbies, favorite foods and color, the occasion, vibe, budget and season, and the titles of ideas you have liked or skipped. It never sends your own name, your location, photos or notes. These requests are made under your own OpenAI account and are governed by OpenAI's privacy policy. Without a key, ideas come from the app's built-in library and nothing is sent.

Notifications

Reminders for anniversaries, birthdays and special dates are scheduled on your device. Partner love taps arrive as notifications through Apple's iCloud.

Deleting your data

Settings → Reset All Data erases your profile, special dates, moments, trips, goals, saved ideas and streak from your device and your iCloud, and disconnects Partner Connect, deleting everything you have shared with your partner. Deleting the app removes what is stored on the device.

Children

Bond Builder is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If the app's data practices change, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before the change takes effect.
